After nine years of endless dance classes, sophomore Sara Crossman is headed to Joffrey Intensive Program in New York City. Along with junior Chris Lucas, Crossman will stay in dorms for two to three weeks while attending intensive jazz and contemporary programs.

For the open invite audition, she could either send in a video of herself dancing or go to an audition in person. Crossman chose to audition in San Diego. She says, “Everyone learned a combo and finally auditioned with it in front of a table of judges.”
Crossman continued, “To be honest, I was not that nervous for the Joffrey audition because I really wasn’t expecting to get in…because Joffrey is such a prestigious program.” Although she has been to several other dance auditions, she says that “most dancers know you can’t expect to get anything because of how hard the dance industry is.” Crossman made the cut on her first audition.

When Crossman was told she had been accepted, she says, “I was ecstatic and started picturing what staying in New York and dancing with Joffrey would be like.” Because Joffrey is such a highly renounced program, making the cut is a huge honor.
Crossman finally says, “I’m looking forward to the intensive and cannot wait to get to experience such an amazing opportunity!”
