The Old J.B.

Justin Bieber may be the first thing to come to mind with the initials “J.B.” Yet, the old “J.B.” is attempting a comeback.  After breaking the Guinness World Record for Most Singles To Enter Into The US Top 20 In A Year By A Group in 2009 and winning over 40 awards including an American Music Award and a Teen Choice Award, the Jonas Brothers decided to take a break from each other for a while.

Peninsula students were asked whether they would like to attend a Jonas Brother concert, a Justin Bieber concert, a One Direction concert, or none of the above. According to the polls, students would rather not attend any of the concerts. One Direction was in close second and the Jonas Brothers were in third. Although the Jonas Brothers may seem popular in ticket sales, they may not be so popular with Peninsula students; however, the “Old J.B.” is more popular than the “New JB.” Justin Bieber received the fewest votes among Peninsula students.

The Jonas Brothers have starred in multiple T.V. shows and movies such as JONAS LA, Camp Rock 1, and Camp Rock 2. The Jonas Brothers also had multiple popular singles including “Burnin’ Up,” “Lovebug,” “SOS” as well as “Paranoid” and “When you look me in the eyes.”

During their break, the Jonas Brothers broke up to go their separate directions. Joe Jonas worked on his debut solo album and Nick starred in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway. Meanwhile, Kevin Jonas began his own reality show, Married to Jonas, starring him and his wife, Danielle. Aired on E! since August 2012, the show advertises the comeback of the Jonas Brothers in 2012 as well as showing Kevin and Danielle’s elegant lifestyle.

Yet, the Jonas Brothers are once again climbing their way to the top as a group. They are planning to release a new album and are going on tour once again. The Jonas Brothers recently released five new songs that are going to be featured on their new album: “Let’s Go,” “Meet you in Paris,” “First Time,” “Dance Until Tomorrow,” and “Wedding Bells, ” which was interestingly written by Nick Jonas about Miley Cyrus’s new marriage. One Direction and the new “J.B.,” Justin Bieber, will have to compete with the Jonas Brothers if they regain their popularity.

As a reunion, The Jonas Brothers hosted one concert recently at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City on October 11. On November 27, 28, and 29, The Jonas Brothers are kicking off their new tour, here in L.A. at the Pantages Theatre. The tickets sold out in a few short minutes.

“The Jonas Brothers weren’t one of those groups that Disney channel just threw together,” said freshman, Divya Kumar. “They were actually talented and probably one of the most successful bands of our generation, other than One Direction.”
